Schunnemunk Ridge Park, NY

In 2003, Schunnemunk Mountain became the 163rd New York State Park, and the latest in PIPC’s system. Located in the towns of Cornwall, Woodbury and Blooming Grove, in Orange County, this 2,400-acre ridge was acquired from the Open Space Institute, which had begun purchasing portions of the mountain in 1996 and maintained its trails in partnership with the New York – New Jersey Trail Conference.
With its 1,700-foot elevation, Schunnemunk dominates the surrounding landscape and is unmistakable to motorists traveling on the New York State Thruway near Rockland County. To those who hike its trails to the top, this new park offers breathtaking views of the Hudson Highlands.
Seasons/Hours: Open year round - dawn till dusk
Pets: Dogs permitted on 6 ft. leash
