Madison resident and longtime New York-New Jersey Trail Conference member Lou Leonardis helped lead the orgnaization's second annual Hike-a-Thon to another year of fundraising success. This year's event, held on Saturday at Bear Mountain State Park, raised over $13K for maintenance of trails and trail education throughout New Jersey and New York.

The Trail Conference seeks to close the gap in federal and state funding for New Jersey and New York outdoor recreation spaces with private donations, pledges, and the work of thousands of volunteers. They build, maintain, and help protect over 1,700 miles of trails throughout the bi-state area.

Besides helping organize the event, Leonardis' graphic design firm, Enzo Creative in Summit, contributed its services to design the visual identity of the Hike-a-Thon, including posters and the interactive event pledge webpage and online communications, which helped secure top sponsors The North Face, Trader Joe's and Whole Foods.

"I think everyone's here for the same reason, which is to raise money for these folks and keep our outdoor spaces in good condition. And it's important for any fundraising event to make its website appealing and easy to use so people participate. We designed the site to inspire sponsors to come on board who have the resources the Trail Conference needs for continued success," said Leonardis.
